Bella Bella Generating Station

The Bella Bella Generating Station most often serves as a backup power supply to customers in Bella Bella and Shearwater when power from the Ocean Falls hydro generating station is unavailable. If customer load exceeds supply from Ocean Falls, the diesel units in Bella Bella will activate to ensure a continuous, safe, reliable supply.

We are adding an additional generating unit at the Bella Bella Generating Station to help ensure we can continue to meet the community’s growing demand during outages. With this additional unit increasing the station’s generating capacity to over 5 megawatts (MW), we need to apply for an Air Emission Permit.
